Stop Motion-

Inspiration Video:

My stop motion project was inspired by a video on YouTube called "DEADLINE post-is stop motion." It was directed by Bang-yao Liu and it was for his senior project at Savannah College of Art and Design. I wanted to give this technique a try. I used my phone to take all of these pictures so created my own tripod by taping my phone to box. Unfortunately that did not work very well and some of the photos look out of line with the others. After doing this project i realized how hard it is to create these videos. Mine is just 180 photos and including the intro takes 39 seconds to view. Moving one sticky at a time is very time consuming. I liked Liu's video before but now that I have tried this technique I cant even image the amount of work that went into creating his.

Project 11

For the dystopiaI tried to adjust the all of the clips to have a colder feel. I connect the dystopia and utopia by adding a view of Portland in both videos but in one it was cloudy and the other was sunny. For the utopia I used the building with a clock as my main subject. Unfortunately when I tried to add transitions my computer started to make the video clips glitchy so I didn't include them.

Project 9- Commercial and Fine Art Portraits

Commercial Portraits:

I made these all black and white because the backgrounds in each were distracting due to the bright colors in the room. These photos were taken with my phone and there not as clear as I would have liked. I took these photos as I was doing dry-land with my friends/teammates. The main focus of these portraits was sports/fitness.

Fine Art Portraits:

This is Rebecca a girl I babysit every once in a while. These photos were taken in her room while she was showing me how high she can jump. I didn't crop each photo as much as I could have because her room shows so much of her personality. It easy to see her toys and how much she loves the color pink. Because

Fine Art Portrait:
Aleksandr Munaev
I like how the focus is on the face and everything else is slightly blurred. The contrast between the blue and red dominates the photo. Her green eyes are bright and intense(clear) which stands out compared to the rest of the photo.
Vlad Bara
I like the story that this photo expresses. The body position and clothing project a shy everyday teenage girl. She's not wearing high end clothing or a bunch of makeup. The intensity in the eyes bring the photo together, natural beauty.
Commercial Portait:
Joel Grimes
I am into sports so this photo tells a relatable story. Because of the lighting it makes me think she is at morning practice. The photo is realistic and not just selling the clothing. She does this by having her hair back and her workout bag is out, just like I do. To me she is selling fitness and that life style.
Harper's Bazaar
This portrait is definitely selling fashion. I like this photo because its different than your typical fashion portrait. The background contrasts so much with the dress.
Covers:
This portrait is selling fashion but its telling a story. The pattern on the back wall, the dress, and the crown create a feeling of a modern day princess/queen. The text pops but it does take away from the photo.
I like this cover because there is a clear color theme, yellow and blue. The hat and clothing give a feeling of vacation or summer. The text pops but it doesn't take away from the photo.

Project 8- Surrealism and Photomontage

For this project I cut and pasted images to create something completely different. I liked the idea of having a normal setting with a twist/ adding something that doesn't belong.

Surrealism-

Surrealism is a mix between
dream and reality. The artists paint illogical scenes with photographic precision using techniques that allowed the unconscious to express itself and/or an idea/concept.

Project 7 - Alternative Processes

Daguerreotype
A daguerreotype is an old type of photograph that is made on a piece of silver or a silver-covered copper plate. I transformed my photo of flowers into I daguerrotype. The texture layer really transformed the feeling of the photograph.

Gum Bichromate
This photo I added different colored layers such as green, yellow, brown and black to bring out the different parts of the photo. The trees have a yellow tint, the house has a brown tint, and the sky is black tint.

Cyanotype
cyanotype is a photographic blueprint. I cropped the photo and put a layer of texture from watercolor paper to give the photo an older feel.

Project 6- Image Techniques

Multiple Exposure
For this photo I took multiple shots while the crane was in motion. I slightly of set each image so it would be easy to see the movement. The photo is set in black and white to make the image more simplistic and bring the viewers attention to the crane.

High Dynamic Range
This photo was difficult to edit. I wanted it to be clear and realistic. When I took this photo there were lots of shadows with the sun shining from the left. I brought out the greens/blue slightly and added a yellow tint.

Panorama
I took this photo is made up of photos from my swim meets at the Mt. Hood Community College. This photo was extremely busy with colors so I turned it black and white. I love how I was able to turn the water a clear/white color. Through the water you can see the lines at the bottom of the pool.

Project 4- Balance and Contrast

For this project I experimented with showing contrast through scale, color, texture, and value. These kaleidoscopes are made up photos that show a lot texture. The first kaleidoscope is build from a rock wall. I edited the photo in Lightroom to show the contrast in the rocks colors. The second kaleidoscope is a set of stairs with leaves piled up in the left corner. I brought out the colors in the photo and then rotated each to make a unique pattern. The last kaleidoscope is a photo of a fountain wall. I changed the colors entirely and rotated it to create a pattern.

These triptychs are made up of some old and new photos. The fist triptych is from a park. I really liked this one because it shows symmetrical balance. I also edited each photo to have bright colors in the front and more washed towards the back. The second triptych is made up from the British Columbia Parliament building and the statue of Liberty. Both photos I took last summer when traveling. I like this triptych because the teal color pop and it has symmetrical balance. The photos of last triptych are all from a play ground. For this triptych I brought out one color in each photo.
For this diptych I used two photos I took when I was in Washington DC. The first photo is from a ceiling of a museum that reminded me of caging. Next to the vibrant leafs it reminds me of a garden. The second diptych is is from a water fountain. I edited it in Lightroom so only some colors would stand out.
